CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Katey Stone, the Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Ice Hockey, will continue her position as head coach of the U.S. Women's National Team through the 2011-12 season, USA Hockey announced Thursday. Stone was initially named head coach of the U.S. squad June 24, 2010.

Her first season at helm of the National Team was a successful one, beginning with a national team camp that she oversaw in Lake Placid, N.Y., last August. From there, Stone led the red, white and blue to a runner-up finish at the 2010 Four Nations Cup in St. John's, N.L., dropping a 3-2 overtime decision to archrival Canada in the final. Stone helped Team USA close the 2010-11 campaign on a high note as the squad captured its third-straight IIHF World Women's Championship title, downing Canada, 3-2, in overtime in the championship match.

Stone will begin the 2011-12 campaign with the USA Hockey Women's National Festival Aug. 12-20 in Blaine, Minn., and will see the team compete in the IIHF 12 Nations Tournament (Aug. 23-31), the 2011 Four Nations Cup (Nov. 9-14) and the 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship (April 7-14).  She will also oversee the USA Hockey Women's Winter Training Camp Dec. 26-31.

Entering her 18th season behind the Harvard bench, Stone remains the winningest coach in Division I collegiate women's hockey with a career record of 356-155-31. Last season, she led the Crimson to a 17-11-4 record, a runner-up finish in the regular season conference standings and a berth in the ECAC semifinal round.
