Harvard will host the second annual Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse
League Day Saturday, with the involvement of the Positive Coaching
Alliance.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Athletics has
teamed up with the Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse League for a second straight
year surrounding a Harvard Women's lacrosse game. This year, the Positive
Coaching Alliance will be involved to help create a positive,
character-building experience for youth lacrosse players. The event
will take place Saturday, April 7 prior to the Harvard
women's lacrosse team's game against Brown at 1 p.m. in
Harvard Stadium.
Beginning at 9 a.m., four youth lacrosse games will be played at
Harvard Stadium and Soldiers Field Lacrosse Stadium, involving U13
and U15 teams from Billerica, Charlestown, Franklin,
Groton-Dunstable, and Medford. The youth games will be
followed by free clinics for both parents and children. Parents
will participate in the Second Goal Parent, which offers
suggestions as to how to focus on helping children process the life
lessons uniquely available through sports. This highly interactive
workshop provides specific tips and techniques for parents to use
in talking with their children on game day, developing a productive
parent – coach relationship, and becoming effective and
positive supporters in the stands.
The children will attend Triple Impact Athlete, a highly
interactive course which provides specific tips and techniques for
mastery and continuous improvement in any sport, seizing
opportunities to encourage and support teammates, and competing
fiercely to win within an ethical context of honoring the game.
First draw between Harvard and Brown is scheduled for 1 p.m. and
admission is free to the public. Following the game, the Crimson
will hold an autograph session for all fans in attendance on the
field and free team photographs will be provided.
