Women's 4x400 Relay Re-Sets School Record at ECAC/IC4A Championships

The women's 4x400 relay team broke its own school record Sunday at the ECAC/IC4A (Harvard Track and Field). 

PRINCETON, N.J. –
Just 24 hours after setting a new school record, the Harvard women's 4x400 relay team bettered its own mark on the final day of competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships Sunday.

Comprised of the same four runners as yesterday's record run, the squad of Erika Veidis (55.5), Olivia Abbate (56.9), Gabrielle Scott (53.5) and Shannon Conway (55.5) teamed for a time of 3:41.41, breaking the record by nearly a full second. The time also saw the foursome take seventh in the race, good for two team points at the meet. Shannon Watt took 11th in the shot put with a throw of 45' 3.5" (13.80m) and Mary Hirst was 13th in the high jump with a mark of 5' 7" (1.70m).

On the men's side, Dustin Brode led a trio of Harvard throwers in the shot put, placing seventh with a throw of 56' 5.25" (17.20m), good for a pair of team points. Rookie Dean Sullivan continued his strong freshman campaign, placing third in the javelin in his first IC4A appearance with a distance of 214' (65.23m). Jonathan Sparks rounded out the men's competitors with a 10th-place finish in the high jump, clearing 6' 8" (2.03m).

The women's team finished in 38th place, earning 5.50 team points over the three days of competition. The men's team tied for 15th in the final IC4A standings, scoring 19 points at the meet.
