Triple Jump Results
LONDON, England – Former Harvard track and field
standout Samyr Laine '06 participated in the finals of the
triple jump at the 2012 London Olympic Games Thursday. Laine,
representing Haiti, placed 11th in the event finals while American
Christian Taylor took home the gold medal.
Laine is one of just eight athletes representing Haiti at the
Olympics, and one of just four competing in track and field. Laine
began his competition Tuesday with the qualification round, where
he posted a mark of 16.81 meters to qualify in 10th position. In
three attempts in Thursday's final, Laine posted a top
distance of 16.65 meters, good for 11th out of the 12
finalists.
The Haitian national and Harvard record holder in the triple
jump, Laine carries a career-best mark of 17.39 meters.
