PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard Track and Field opened competition at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships with a strong first day, as 17 Crimson student-athletes secured spots in Sunday's finals and Harvard positioned itself for multiple scoring opportunities heading into the final day of competition.
Harvard closed day one, led by the women's squad with 32 points and the men adding 16 points through strong performances on both the track and in the field.

Molly Malague featured for the Crimson on opening day, with Ortmans capturing the men's 10,000m title and Malague earning a runner-up finish in the women's 10,000m to highlight Harvard's day-one performance.Â

Alice Mihas earned a podium finish in the women's hammer throw, scoring for the Crimson with a fifth-place mark of 55.56m (182-3). On the track, sophomore Abby Dennis matched the Harvard program record in the women's 100m hurdles, clocking a personal-best 13.36 to post the top qualifying time heading into Sunday's final.

- Charlie Ortmans won the men's 10,000m in 29:33.26, while junior Sam Burgess added a third-place finish in 29:40.52.

- Senior Jonas Clarke (10.28), junior Amari Turner (10.31), junior Timi Esan (10.31), and sophomore LeRoy Horton (10.38) all qualified for the men's 100m final.
- Sophomore Ella Cooper (11.64), junior Mickaila Haisley (11.71), and sophomore Saige Forbes (11.75) all advanced to the women's 100m final.
- In the men's 200m, Amari Turner placed second in 20.70 for a personal best, Jonas Clarke placed third in 20.77 for a personal best, Timi Esan finished fourth in 20.94 for a personal best, and sophomore Harlow Tong placed fifth in 21.07.
- First-year Arpad Kovacs (46.62) and sophomore Hudson Allain (46.74) both advanced to the men's 400m final, with Allain recording a personal best.
- Harlow Tong also qualified for the men's 400m final after clocking 46.54.
- Junior Marta Amani qualified for the women's 400m final with a time of 53.87.
- Ella Cooper (23.00) and Mickaila Haisley (23.72) both ran personal bests to qualify for the women's 200m final.
- Senior Justin Levy clocked a personal-best 1:50.28 to advance to the men's 800m final.
- First-year Ben Bouie qualified for the men's 1,500m final in 3:48.11.
- First-year Dylan McElhinney advanced to the men's 1,500m final in 4:21.09.
- Junior Lilly Hodge placed third in the women's pole vault with a personal-best clearance of 4.18m (13-8.5), while sophomore Ella McRitchie added a fourth-place finish at 4.08m (13-4.5).
- Marta Amani placed third in the women's long jump with a personal-best mark of 6.36m (20-10.5).
