CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Bryant University running back Jordan Brown and Western New England defensive back Alex Miller have been selected as the New England Football Writers' Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Gold Helmet Awards for their performances on Sept. 8.
Brown, a graduate of Glastonbury High School, rushed for a team-best 125 yards and two touchdowns in Bryant's 39-28 loss at St. Francis (Pa.). The senior rushed four consecutive times in the first quarter to help the Bulldogs grab an early 14-7 lead, and scored a touchdown on a three-yard run with less than eight minutes left in the game.
Miller, a senior from Seekonk, Mass., posted a career-high three picks to tie a school record and help spark the WNE defense in a 35-10 victory over Westfield State in the Presidents' Cup. The Seekonk High School graduate also made five total tackles and recovered a fumble to earn the New England Football Conference Player of the Week honors, and has five interceptions in just two games.
