Laura Ricciardone had four wins in four appearances last
week (Harvard Athletic Communications).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the third time this season,
Harvard softball junior pitcher Laura Ricciardone was named Ivy
League Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It marks
the fifth time in her career she has taken home the weekly
honor.
Ricciardone played a big part in maintaining Harvard's
current seven game win streak, appearing in four contests last week
and picking up wins in all four outings. Her complete game against
Boston College Tuesday helped Harvard sweep the Eagles for the
first time since 1999, as she fanned eight BC batters. Ricciardone
helped the Crimson to its first Ivy win of the season, striking out
eight more batters in an 8-3 victory over Penn Friday. She did not
surrender an earned run in a 7-2 complete-game win over Columbia
Sunday, and fired 2.2 innings of relief work in the second game
against the Lions for her fourth win of the week.
She ended the week with a miniscule 1.24 earned-run average, and
surrendered just six walks while fanning 25 batters in 22.2
innings.
The Crimson is back in action Thursday when it heads to Rhode
Island for a single game against the Rams.
