Weigel Set to Compete on USA Rugby's Girls High School All-American Squad

Weigel will compete with USA Rugby's Girls High School All-American Squad (Goff Rugby Report)

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Incoming varsity women's rugby freshman Caitlin Weigel is set to participate with the USA Rugby's Girls High School All-American squad in a two-match series against the British Columbia U18 women's team this weekend.

These matches will mark the first time a USA women's U18 national team will compete in a 15s match. The games will be held on Aug. 21 and Aug. 23 at Brentwood College School in British Columbia, Canada.

Weigel, the 2015 Ms. Rugby Ohio, was one of 27 to earn a spot on the Girls High School All-American team, as the roster was announced last Friday.

Weigel earned a spot on the GHSAA squad after earning MVP honors at the Midwest Regional Cup Tournament. From there, USA Rugby scouts nominated Weigel to attend the Stars and Stripes camp, where she scored the opening try in the Stars & Stripes game on July 25.

Friday's game will begin at 4 p.m. and Sunday's contest will be at 9 a.m.
