CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 7 Harvard women's fencing earned two victories at home Saturday afternoon, posting a 25-2 win against Tufts and a 20-7 mark against NYU.
Liana Yamin led the Crimson (8-5) to their respective victories, going 4-0 against the competitors. Yamin assisted Harvard to a 9-0 sweep over Tufts and a 7-2 win against NYU in foil.
The sabre squad was first up during the back-to-back matches, sending Adrienne Jarocki, Marta Lasota and Gabby Tartakovsky to compete against NYU. Lasota remained undefeated against NYU, tallying 5-2, 5-0 and 5-4 wins, leading the Crimson with a plus-nine touch differential.
The women's foil earned a 7-2 victory over the Bobcats, led by efforts from Yamin, Natalie Yang, Hali Nelson, Mackenzie Lawrence and Liana Henderson-Semel. Yamin swept the Bobcats, 3-0, and the senior co-captain tallied a plus-nine touch differential.
Shawn Wallace and Sharon Ra both assisted to the 7-2 victory in epee with 3-0 records. Wallace tallied a plus-five touch differential and Ra recorded plus-eight.
The Crimson went on to face Tufts University later in the afternoon, earning a 25-2 win against the Jumbos.
The foil squad added a 9-0 sweep to the board, with victories from Lawrence, Nelson, Henderson-Semel, Yang and Yamin. Lawrence led the Crimson with a plus-10 touch differential.
The sabre squad went head-to-head with the Jumbos, finishing with an 8-1 mark. Jarocki and Lasota each went 3-0, tallying plus-12 and plus-11 records,respectively.
Harvard's epee team also added an 8-1 record against the Jumbos with Claire Dinhut leading the way with a 3-0 mark and plus-three margin.
