CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Posting its third-straight shutout, and fifth this season, the Harvard women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over rival Yale on Saturday night at Jordan Field.

First-year Jillian Wachira scored her first-career goal, while classmate Lara Schenk picked up her first-career point with an assist on the play. The Crimson (4-4-1, 1-0-1 Ivy) outshot Yale (5-4-1, 0-2-0 Ivy) by an 11-9 margin, led by sophomore Murphy Agnew's game-high four attempts. Senior Danielle Etzel tallied three saves for the victory and shutout.

Harvard struck with the game-winning goal in the 29th minute, as Schenk slid a pass to Wachira, who beat a pair of Yale defenders before powering a left-footed shot into the top right corner. Less than a minute later, first-year Sophie Hirst nearly doubled the Crimson advantage, but her shot from 18 yards hooked just wide.

The Crimson outshot the Bulldogs, 6-5, in the second half, and the defense stood strong to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.

• Etzel increased her league-leading marks in save percentage and goals-against average to .913 and 0.30, respectively. 556 minutes have elapsed since she last allowed a goal.
