CAMBRIDGE, Mass – Chris Lewis broke the Harvard career blocks record and scored 15 points while adding eight rebounds, as the Harvard men's basketball team earned a 60-55 victory at Howard Sunday afternoon.

Lewis now has 150 blocks in his career, surpassing Keith Wright '12 for most in program history.

Mason Forbes scored 13 points and added a career-high four blocks. Justin Bassey added nine boards.

Lewis scored the first four baskets of the game for the Crimson, who led, 10-5, by the first media timeout. Lewis also tied the Harvard career blocks record when he rejected Wayne Bristol, Jr's layup attempt at the 18:52 mark. Harvard continued to attack the rim from inside the paint, scoring 16 of its first 19 points from there, as the Crimson led, 19-13, with under eight minutes left in the half.

After Howard came back to go up, 23-19, Chris Ledum hit a 3-pointer and then converted an and-one to regain the lead for the Crimson, 25-23, with just over four minutes left in the first. At the break, the teams headed to the locker room knotted, 31-31.

In the second, Noah Kirkwood stole a pass at midcourt and finished with a layup to give the Crimson a three-point edge, 36-33, with just over 15 minutes to play. Harvard opened up a six-point lead when Kyle Catchings connected on a 3 from the corner, 44-38, with 12:47 left.

Following the final media timeout, the Bison got within two, 54-52, before Kirkwood converted an and-one to push the Harvard lead back to five, 57-52, with 1:43 to go. In the last minute of play with Harvard up three, Lewis broke the school's career blocks record by swatting away a Charles William layup attempt with 35 seconds left.
