NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Wrapping up competition at the 2019 Ivy League Tournament, presented by TIAA, Harvard men's basketball was outlasted by Yale, 97-85, on Sunday afternoon at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.

Junior Bryce Aiken broke his own Ivy League Tournament scoring record with 38 points, finishing 11-for-21 from the field with four triples and a perfect 12-for-12 mark at the free throw line. He was selected to the all-tournament team at its conclusion. First-year Noah Kirkwood added 19 points of his own.

Yale took an early lead, 25-16, but Harvard fought back to take the lead with 3:16 left in the first half after an 8-0 Harvard run that included points from Rio Haskett, Danilo Djuricic and Aiken. Aiken tallied 21 points in the opening frame – his highest-scoring first half of the season – but the Crimson trailed by one at the half, 43-42.

Harvard scored the first four points of the second half to take a 46-42 lead, and led by as many as seven with 17 minutes to go after a steal and breakaway dunk for Kirkwood. The Bulldogs fought back to tie the score at 54-54, and regained the lead with 12 minutes to go. Yale went on a run, to close the game, and Harvard could not break through to regain control.

Harvard Highlights

• Aiken broke his own scoring record at the tournament, scoring 38 points. He landed on the all-tournament team after averaging 28.5 points per game over the two-day event.
• Kirkwood finished 7-for-12 from the field, ending the afternoon with 19 points

Game Notes

• Harvard moves to 2-1 on the season against Yale.
• By virtue of its Ivy League championship and top seed at the Ivy League Tournament, Harvard earned a trip to the NIT.
