Angela Caloia Called Up to Italian National Team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's soccer forward Angela Caloia has been called up to the Italian National Team for its UEFA Women's EURO 2022 qualifying match against Denmark. The contest is set for Oct. 27, in Empoli, Italy.

The full national team call-up is the first of Caloia's career, but the sophomore is no stranger to the Italian National Team system. The forward has appeared in eight games for Italy's U19 club, scoring three goals.

Hailing from Washington, D.C., Caloia enjoyed an impactful first season at Harvard in 2019, earning all-Ivy League second-team honors after leading the Crimson with 23 points on the strength of six goals and a team-best 11 assists. Her 11 helpers ranked second in school single-history, while her 73.9-percent shot accuracy and 0.69 assists-per-game average ranked first and fourth, respectively, among all Division I players.

Caloia's production helped Harvard put together a highly successful season in 2019 as it posted a 12-3-1 record (5-1-1 Ivy). The Crimson's season win total matched its most since the 2013 campaign.
