Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Harvard women's basketball team (14-7, 5-3 Ivy League) suffered an 89-64 setback at Columbia (13-8, 4-4 Ivy League) tonight, Feb. 15, at Levien Gymnasium.
Three Crimson players recorded double-digit points tonight, led by first-year Lola Mullaney for the 14th time this season with 12. Senior Jeannie Boehm and junior co-captain Rachel Levy followed closely behind with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Defensively, junior Maddie Stuhlreyer recorded a career-high six rebounds, while five Crimson players grabbed a team-high four boards and sophomore Tess Sussman tallied two steals.
A back-and-forth start to the game knotted the Crimson and Lions up at 10-10 midway through the opening frame. Columbia broke through with a 5-1 run to take a 19-11 lead at the end of quarter one. The Lions widened its margin to 11 to begin quarter two, and later used a 10-1 run to push is advantage to 47-21 going into halftime.
Columbia's offensive surge continued into the third quarter, taking a 30-point lead at 53-23. Two consecutive buckets from Mullaney provided a spark for the Crimson, with Boehm dropping in two and Mullaney later hitting a triple. The Lions defense held the Crimson at bay for the remainder of the quarter, leading 72-41 heading into the final frame.
Five points from Levy and triples from Mullaney and Maddie Stuhlreyer helped cut the Crimson's deficit at the start of the fourth quarter. However, Columbia continued to pack on the pressure, sealing a 89-64 victory.
