Baseball Welcomes Class of 2023

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After one of the most successful seasons in program history, The Joseph O'Donnell '67 Head Coach for Harvard Baseball, Bill Decker has announced his incoming class of 2023. The newcomers will help the Crimson on its mission to repeat as Ivy League Champions.

"I am excited to see the impact that this year's group will have on the program," said Decker. "They are sure to play a large role in the team's success for the next four years."

The class represents four states and includes talented players at all levels of the field.

#9 Ben Rounds - OF

Milton, Mass | Roxbury Latin

Before Harvard: Four-year letter winner at the Roxbury Latin School in baseball... Split time as a pitcher/outfielder... Served as team captain in his junior and senior seasons... Named to the All-Independent School League team in his junior and senior seasons... Played three seasons of club baseball for the New England Ruffnecks... Also played for the Boston Prospect team as a pitcher and outfielder... Selected as a member of the All-USA Massachusetts Baseball team by USA Today in 2018... Tournament MVP at the 18u NEB End of Summer Classic and the 16u Diamond Nation Tournament... Volunteered at Habitat for Humanity for six years... Volunteer at Milton Food Pantry... Participated in Connected Living, a technology and tutoring program... 

 

#11 Will Jacobsen – INF/RHP

San Francisco, Calif. | The Branson School

Before Harvard: Four-year letterwinner in baseball and basketball for The Branson School... Served as baseball team captain in 2018 and 2019... Helped his team to a North Coast Section championship in his senior season... Named to the Marin County Athletic League's All-League First Team (2019) and Second team (2018)...Played club baseball for NorCal  Baseball and the California Warriors... Named to the All-Metro Bay Area team in 2019... Three time section winner in basketball (2017-19)...Basketball team captain in 2019... Awarded the Marin Athletic Foundation's Outstanding Student Athlete Award in 2019... Enjoys camping and fishing... 

 

#13 Pryor Thomas – INF/RHP

Keller, Texas | Liberty Christian School

Before Harvard: Three-year letterwinner in seasons at Keller High School (2017) and Liberty Christian (2018-19)... Two-Time Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) State Champion (2018-19)... Named team captain for his senior season... Starting shortstop and team Co-MVP in his senior year... Tabbed as the TAPPS Defensive MVP (2019)... First-Team Academic All-State in 2019... Named to the TAPPS All-Tournament team in 2018... Earned the Liberty Christian School Impact Athlete of the Year award after his junior year... National Honor Society and Model UN member... Named commencement speaker at high school graduation ceremony... Loves Country Music, Sports and Church... Father, Jason played football at Southern Methodist University... 

 

#22 Spencer Williams – OF

Northridge, Calif. | Chaminade College Prep.

Before Harvard: Lettered in both seasons at Chaminade (2018-19) and Bishop Alemany High School (2016-17)... Starting centerfielder all fours years of high school... Named baseball team captain his junior and senior seasons at Chaminade... Named to the Mission League's All-League first team in 2019... Led the Mission League in home runs and fielding percentage in 2019... Named a top 500 recruit by Perfect Game Baseball... Earned a spot on Team USA's 14U NTDP Roster in 2015... Played club baseball for CBA Marucci... Team was ranked first overall nationally by Perfect Game USA... A member of CBA Marucci's WWBA National Championship team in 2018... Four-year honor roll recipient... Member of the National Honor Society... Member of the California Scholarship Federation... Participant in Challenger Baseball Organization since 2010... Northridge City Little League volunteer since 2017... 

 

#25 Adam Stone – RHP

Stamford, Conn. | Fairfield College Prep.

Before Harvard: Four-year letterman in baseball at Fairfield College Prep... helped team to a 25-2 record in his senior season... Was voted to the All-Southern Connecticut Conference team his junior year... Won the SCC championship game in 2018... Brother Kevin played for the Crimson from 2015-19 and graduated in the Spring of 2019... Volunteer at Boys and Girls club of Stamford since 2014... Graduated Magna Cum Laude... Brother Grant is a senior on this year's roster... Brother Kevin played on the team from 2015-19... 

 

#33 Ian Buckner – RHP

Oak Park, Calif. | Grace Brethren Academy

Before Harvard: Two-time letter winner at West Ranch High School (2018) and Grace Brethren (2019)... Split time at Pitcher, Centerfielder and Designated Hitter... Played club baseball for the Vortex (2014-15)... Set West Ranch Freshman record for ERA... Freshman team put together an undefeated season and won Foothill League in 2015... Two-time scholar athlete award winner... Safe School anti-bullying initiative ambassador... Member of Kids for environmental and Social Action for six years... Santa Clarita Food Pantry volunteer... 

 

#36 Seamus Buckley – C

Dorchester, Mass. | Beaver Country Day

Before Harvard: Four-year letterwinner in baseball at Beaver Country Day... Earned the starting catcher spot all four years... Named team captain his junior and senior year... Coach's Award winner in his senior season... Led team in home runs in his junior and senior season... Played club baseball for Northeast Baseball and The Base... Also lettered in soccer for four years... Represented his hometown of Dorchester on the City of Boston's Youth Council for three years... Member of the Magna Cum Laude Society... Hobbies include Gaelic sports of hurling and Gaelic football... Sister Deirdre '15 was a member of Harvard Sailing team... 

 

#77 Tim Williamson – LHP

Cypress, Texas | Tomball Memorial

Before Harvard: Three-year letterwinner in baseball... Captain in his senior season at Tomball Memorial High school... split time between pitching, first base and designated hitter... played club baseball in the Premiere Baseball Futures League... Was named to the all-district first team in 2018 and 2019... First team academic all-state in 2019...
