Harvard Carnival Featured on Sports Video Group

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Harvard ski team hosted its first carnival this year to kick off the 2019-20 season. The Harvard carnival was contested in Warterville Valley, New Hampshire for the alpine races, while the nordic squads competed in Craftsbury, Vermont. The Crimson tallied an eighth-place performance, highlighted by first-year Rémi Drolet's second-place finish in the men's 20km classic race.

The carnival marked the first time any EISA regular-season carnival had been live-streamed. The slalom races on Friday, Jan. 17, were broadcast on ESPN+, followed by the nordic 15km/20km races on Saturday, Jan.18.

Kristian Hernandez of Sports Video Group sat down with Imry Halevi, the assistant director of athletics-multimedia and production, to discuss all of the behind-the-scenes work needed in order to live-stream the event.

"It's an outdoor sport, so you have to expect the unexpected," Halevi said in the story. "It all came down to staffing and people: you need people you can trust to make it work. They made the whole thing possible because they were able to think on their feet and adjust as needed based on the conditions around them."
