CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's soccer team has earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2019-20 academic year. The honor marks the fifth straight season the Crimson has captured the award, the 10
th time in the last 11 years, and the 13
th time overall.
To be eligible for the national accolade, which was originally instituted in 1996, a team must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. As a group, Harvard compiled a team GPA of 3.74 during the Fall 2019 semester.
The Crimson boasted the highest GPA in the Ivy League and was joined on the honorees list by six others in the league (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn, Yale).
The team academic award puts a bow on a '19-20 campaign that saw
Cammie Dopke and
Taylor Nielsen garner CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition back in November, marking the fourth year in a row in which the Crimson have had multiple selections.
On the pitch, meanwhile, Harvard enjoyed a highly successful season, posting a 12-3-1 record (5-1-1 Ivy), tying its most victories since the 2013 campaign. The Crimson's performance led to
Murphy Agnew being named the 2019 Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year and landing six players on the all-conference team.
