Sophie Hirst and
Lara Schenk, juniors
Angela Caloia and
Hannah Gardner, and sophomore
Taylor Fasnacht have all earned First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
Hirst – also a 2021 First Team All-Ivy and Academic All-Ivy honoree – has stood as a mainstay in the team's midfield, leading the team's midfielders with 1,205 minutes played on the year. The Seattle, Wash., native has tallied three assists on the season. A neuroscience concentrator, Hirst has twice earned All-Ivy accolades.
Schenk – also a 2021 Second Team All-Ivy selection – has played a pivotal role in the team's defense, starting all 15 games and playing 1,379 of a possible 1,393 minutes on the year (99 percent). For the season, the psychology concentrator has helped the Crimson post six clean sheets with a 0.78 goals-against average. The Hanover, Germany, native has started all 31 games for Harvard over the past two seasons.
Caloia – a two-time All-Ivy honoree, including a 2021 First Team All-Ivy selection – ranks second in the Ancient Eight in goals (10), second in game-winning goals (four), and third in points (22). A native of Washington, D.C., she stands 27
th nationally in goals per game (0.67). For her career, the economics concentrator has totaled 45 points on 16 goals and 13 assists in 31 games.
An economics concentrator, Gardner has posted a 10-0-0 record as a goalkeeper in 2021 with two shutouts, a 0.39 goals-against average, and a 0.850 save percentage. In Ivy play, the Horsham, England, native has tallied a 5-0-0 mark with two shutouts, a 0.23 goals-against average on one goal allowed, and a .900 save percentage.
A native of Allentown, Pa., Fasnacht ranks third on the team with nine points on three goals and three assists. She has played in all 15 of the Crimson's games with five starts, including three starts in Ivy League play.
The 2021 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
