CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University wrestling begins its 2021-22 season at the Journeymen Classic at Spooky Nook Sports in Mainheim, Pa., on Sunday with wrestlers from several other EIWA schools set to take the mat at the event as the Crimson competes for the first time in over 600 days.

What to Know
- At Sunday's tournament, Harvard will compete for the first time since the EIWA Championships on March 7, 2020 – a span of 617 days.
- Other EIWA programs set to compete at the Journeymen Classic include Army West Point, Hofstra, Lehigh, LIU, Penn, and Sacred Heart. Additional schools set to take part in the event include Bloomsburg, Buffalo, Davis & Elkins, Gannon, Lock Haven, Millersville, Oregon State, Pitt-Johnstown, TCNJ, and VMI.
- In the latest rankings from Intermat, sophomore Philip Conigliaro stands at No. 12 at 165 pounds while junior Yaraslau Slavikouski ranks at No. 17 at 285 pounds.
- Senior A.J. Jaffe, junior Yaraslau Slavikouski, and sophomore Leo Tarantino are set to serve the Crimson as captains during the 2021-22 season.
- In Intermat's All-EIWA Preseason Teams, both sophomore Philip Conigliaro and junior Yaraslau Slavikouski earned spots on the Second Team.
- Two classes of Harvard student-athletes will suit up for the Crimson for the first time as both the class of 2024 and class of 2025 prepare for collegiate competition for the first time.
- Earlier this month, junior Yaraslau Slavikouski competed at the U23 World Wrestling Championship in Belgrade, Serbia, reaching the quarterfinals of the freestyle 125-kilogram division. In January 2021, Slavikouski earned a bronze medal at Belarus Senior Nationals at 125 kilograms.
- During the 2020-21 academic year, junior Michael Jaffe earned 2020-21 Winter Academic All-Ivy accolades.
- Assistant coach Muzaffar Abdurakhmanov earned Uzbekistan's highest coaching honor in August 2021 after coaching his brother Bekzod Abdurakhmanov – a former volunteer assistant coach with the Crimson – to a bronze medal at 74 kg in men's freestyle at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Jay Weiss has mentored two national champions, 17 EIWA champions and 19 All-Americans during his 27 years at the helm of the Crimson.
