Alessandro Arlotti has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors, junior forward
Martin Vician gained Academic All-Ivy accolades, and the Crimson tallied four All-Ivy honorees – including Arlotti and Vician – the Ivy League conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
After leading the team and ranking second in the league in points, Arlotti garnered both Ivy League Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Ivy while sophomore midfielder
Willem Ebbinge joined him on the first team after pacing the conference in assists. Vician, who led the conference in goals during Ivy League play, earned both Second Team All-Ivy and Academic All-Ivy while first-year defender
Jan Riecke collected Honorable Mention All-Ivy.
A native of Monaco, Arlotti led the Ivy League in game-winning goals (six), ranked second in both points (25) and goals (nine), and stood fourth in assists (seven). In Ivy League only play, he stood fourth in points (11), fourth in goals (four), and fifth in assists (three). Arlotti recorded points in seven of his last eight games and 10 of his last 12 contests.
Ebbinge led the Ancient Eight in assists (10) while ranking eighth in points (14) and adding two goals. In Ivy play only, he stood second in assists (five) and eighth in points (seven). A native of Queenstown, New Zealand, Ebbinge posted points in seven of his last eight contests of the year and notched multiple assists in each of two games.
A native of Bratislava, Slovakia, Vician ranked fifth in the Ivy League in points (19) and third in goals (eight), while adding three assists. In Ivy play only, he led the league in goals (six), while ranking second in points (15) and fifth in assists (three). He tallied points in six of his last eight games of the year and posted three or more points in a game three times. A psychology concentrator, Vician scored four goals in the final three games of the 2021 campaign.
A native of Berlin, Germany, Riecke led the team in minutes played (1,519) on the season, playing all but 10 minutes on the year (99.3 percent). Starting all 16 games, Riecke helped the Crimson post four shutouts on the season, including two in Ivy League play.
The quartet helped Harvard close the season on a three-game Ivy League winning streak, finishing the year in fourth place in the conference standings and above .500 (8-5-3, 3-2-2 Ivy) for the first time since 2016. The Crimson went 4-1-1 in its last six contests of 2021.
