Women’s Soccer Closes Regular Season at Columbia on Saturday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University women's soccer closes its regular season at Columbia University on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 5:00 p.m. (ESPN+) at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium, coming off a 3-1 win over Dartmouth in its regular season home finale last weekend.

What to Know: Team Notes

  • In the NCAA RPI Rankings – through games as of Nov. 3 – Harvard checks in at No. 11 in the nation. The Crimson is also receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
  • With an 11-2-1 record thus far in 2021, Harvard has registered double-figure wins in a season for the 21st time in program history and for the sixth time since 2011. The Crimson has tallied 11 or more wins in a season for the 15th time in program history and for the fifth time since 2011.
  • In the national NCAA rankings, the Crimson stands fourth in shots on goal per game (10.00), seventh in corner kicks per game (7.64), eighth in assists per game (2.86), 13th in win percentage (.821), 14th in shots per game (19.64), 17th in points per game (7.57), and 26th in goals per game (2.36).
  • Harvard appeared in the Top Drawer Soccer national rankings for seven consecutive weeks from Sept. 6 to Oct. 18. The Crimson entered the poll on Sept. 6 at No. 21. Harvard moved up to No. 19 on Sept. 13, to No. 15 on Sept. 20, to No. 10 on Sept. 27 and Oct. 4 and to No. 8 on Oct. 11. The Crimson sat at No. 15 in the poll on Oct. 18.
  • As a team in the Ivy League rankings, Harvard ranks first in shots per game (19.64), shots on goal per game (10.00), and corner kicks per game (7.64), second in points per game (7.57), goals per game (2.36), assists per game (2.86), and GAA (0.76).
  • As a team, Harvard has posted six shutouts – including in three Ivy games – on the season and notched a 0.76 GAA. In Ivy play, the Crimson has allowed just three goals over six games for a 0.50 GAA. Harvard has compiled clean sheets in four of its last seven contests.
  • Harvard has scored three or more goals in eight games this year and tallied multiple goals in 11 of 14 contests this season. The Crimson has outscored its opponents 33-11 on the year and outshot its opponents 275-106. Harvard holds a 12-3 goals edge and 112-43 shot advantage in Ivy League play.
  • At home, the Crimson has registered a 6-2-1 record on the season and a 19-6-1 mark since 2018. Overall, Harvard stands at 23-5-2 since 2019. The Crimson is 5-0-0 on the road in 2021.
  • Harvard leads the all-time series with Columbia, 28-3-3.

What to Know: Student-Athlete Notes

  • In the individual NCAA rankings, first-year Hannah Bebar ranks third in assists per game (0.77) and 14th in shots on goal per game (2.23). Junior Angela Caloia sits 23rd in goals per game (0.71) and 30th in game-winning goals (four).
  • Junior Angela Caloia leads the Ivy League in goals (10) and points (22) while ranking second in game-winning goals (four) on the season. Three times this season she has posted two goals in a game. For her career, she has 16 goals, 45 points, and six game winners in 30 games played.
  • First-year Hannah Bebar paces the Ivy League in assists (10), shots per game (3.54) and shots on goal per game (2.23). She ranks second on the team and fifth in the Ivy League in points (20) behind five goals and 10 assists. In Ivy play only, she ranks first in shots on goal (15) and second in points (12) and assists (four). She earned Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week on Nov. 1 after garnering Ivy League Rookie of the Week (Sept. 27) and Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week (Sept. 28) accolades earlier in the year.
  • Junior goalkeeper Hannah Gardner has posted a 9-0-0 record on the year with a 0.28 GAA and two shutouts – both in Ivy League play. In Ivy play, she is 4-0-0 with a 0.00 GAA.
  • Senior Murphy Agnew has tallied four goals on the year and now has 17 career goals.
  • First-year Ainsley Ahmadian ranks second on the team with five assists while fellow first-year Nicola Golen sits third with four assists.
  • Sophomore Taylor Fasnacht stands third on the team with nine points behind three goals and three assists. Junior Ava Lung and first-year Josefine Hasbo have both tallied seven points on the year on two goals and three assists apiece.
  • First-year defender Jade Rose earned a spot on Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week on Sept. 7. She has scored a pair of goals this season. Rose stands second on the team in minutes played (1,129) on the year.
  • Several Crimson student-athletes earned recognition from Top Drawer Soccer in the first week of October. First-year Hannah Bebar was featured in the organization's "Best of September" profiles, and in the group's Midseason First-Year Top 100 Rankings, Bebar (No. 5), Jade Rose (No. 12), Ainsley Ahmadian (No. 14), and Josefine Hasbo (No. 23) all featured in the top 25. 

At the Helm

Chris Hamblin is in his sixth season as The Branca Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Soccer in 2021 after spending five seasons as an assistant coach for the Crimson. The 2016 Ivy League Coach of the Year, he has posted a 48-24-7 overall record and 20-9-5 Ivy League mark during his time at Harvard.
