CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University women's soccer senior midfielder
Sophie Hirst has gained Third Team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Friday.
A native of Seattle, Wash., Hirst has collected a number of accolades this season for her success on the field and in the classroom, earning First Team All-Ivy, Academic All-Ivy, and First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in addition to her Academic All-America selection.
A two-time All-Ivy honoree and a team captain for the Crimson this past fall, Hirst led the team's midfielders in minutes played (1,295) this past season, while tallying three assists.
In 2021, Harvard earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Championship, making its 17
th all-time NCAA appearance. Harvard posted a 12-3-1 overall record in 2021, earning rankings as high as No. 4 in the NCAA RPI, No. 8 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll, and No. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches rankings.
Sixteen of the 34 members of the Academic All-America Division I women's soccer teams sport a perfect 4.0 GPA in either undergrad or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.95, with the complete 34-member women's team averaging a 3.94 GPA.
