Healthy Recipe

Check out this Crispy Tofu recipe from Harvard Health! Tofu has great health benefits, some of which include being a complete protein and it's full of calcium and antioxidants.

Benefits of Tofu
A complete protein
Calcium
Isoflavones (antioxidants)

Ingredients
1 block extra firm tofu
1/2 cup corn starch
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup oil
1/2 tsp each turmeric, thyme, cumin and curry powder
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce of tamari
2 tbsp nutrition yeast (optional)

Instructions
1. Remove as much water as possible from tofu by wrapping it up in a towel and placing something heavy on top. Let sit for about 15 minutes.
2. Chop tofu into 1/2 inch cubes.
3. In a bowl, mix together corn starch, pepper and salt.
4. Place tofu in bowl and mix to cover each piece in corn starch.
5. Heat oil in pan and saute tofu over high heat for 6-8 minutes, until golden.
6. Once crispy, add spices and stir until tofu is uniformly yellow.
7. Then add garlic, soy sauce and nutritional yeast.
8. Saute a little longer, until golden brown.
9. Enjoy with your favorite grain and vegetables!

Notes
1. For even crispier tofu, freeze and thaw twice before draining.
2. Experiment with different spice combinations/feel free to leave some out.
3. Vegans should definitely add nutritional yeast, since it's a good source of B12
