CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has added Harvard sophomore swimmer,
David Abrahams, to its elite athlete list for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
The new NCAA legislation, announced in late summer 2020, allows for those athletes designated as "elite" to have travel expenses paid for, and will be able to spend more time working with coaches in preparation for the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Eight other Harvard student-athletes have already been recognized as potential Olympians, bringing Harvard's total to nine with Abrahams.
The full list of Harvard student-athletes designated as "elite" by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee currently includes:
David Abrahams (Men's Swimming and Diving), Cassidy Bargell (Women's Rugby), Clark Dean (Men's Heavyweight Rowing), Dean Farris (Men's Swimming and Diving), Arik Katz (Men's Swimming and Diving), Mitchell Saron (Men's Fencing), Elizabeth Tartakovsky (Women's Fencing), Geoffrey Tourette (Men's Fencing) and PK Vincze (Women's Rugby).
