Men’s Lightweight’s O’Leary ’13 to Compete at Second U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team Trials – Rowing

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Harvard lightweight rowing's Matthew O'Leary '13 will try to advance his hopes of securing a spot on the U.S. Olympic Rowing team next week at the second U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team Trials – Rowing. O'Leary will compete in the men's quadruple sculls with Lucas Bellows, Jacob Plihal and fellow Harvard alum Travis Taaffe as part of a composite boat.
 
The trials begin on Monday, April 12 where 62 athletes in 27 boats will race on Mercer Lake during the five-day event. Six boat classes will race during the week but only four, women's double sculls, PR1 men's single sculls, PR1 women's single sculls and PR2 mixed double sculls crews, will punch their tickets to Tokyo. The winners of the men's pair and men's quadruple sculls will earn a slot at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in May.
 
O'Leary last competed in the men's single sculls at the first U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team Trials – Rowing in February.
 
Racing will open with time trials on Monday. Heats will take place on Tuesday, with repechages taking place on Wednesday. Thursday will feature semifinals in the Olympic events and finals in the Paralympic events, with finals in the Olympic events taking place on Friday.
 
Semifinals and finals will be streamed live on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
