CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Lightweight Rowing has announced its 2026 spring schedule, which features six competitive events. The Crimson will compete in four regular-season regattas, including two home races, as well as two postseason championships.
Harvard looks to continue a historic run after winning gold in every event it entered at Eastern Sprints in 2025, marking the program's first sweep since the legendary 1998 season. The Crimson also captured back-to-back IRA national titles and recorded undefeated seasons for both the first and second varsity eight boats. Last season's varsity eight victory marked Harvard's 11th IRA national championship in that event.
The Crimson capped its historic campaign at the Henley Royal Regatta by winning the prestigious Temple Challenge Cup. The team became the first Harvard lightweight crew to win the Temple Cup and the first lightweight program to capture the title since Princeton in 2009.
The 2026 season kicks off on Saturday, April 4, in Ithaca, New York, where Harvard will face Cornell and Penn for the Mathews-Leonard Cup and Franklin Cup. The following week, the Crimson will host its first of two home regattas, welcoming Dartmouth and MIT on Saturday, April 11, for the Biglin Bowl.
On Saturday, April 18, Harvard will head to Annapolis, Maryland, to compete against Navy for the Haines Cup. The Crimson will close out the regular season at home on Saturday, April 25, hosting the HYP (Harvard-Yale-Princeton) race and competing for the Goldthwait and Vogel Cups.
Harvard will open postseason competition on Sunday, May 17, traveling to Worcester, Massachusetts, in pursuit of its third consecutive Eastern Sprints title. The season will culminate at the IRA Championships on May 29-31 in Sacramento, California, where the Crimson will look to defend its back-to-back victories.
