CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's soccer incoming first-year Jade Rose has been named to the Canadian Women's National Team roster ahead of the country's June camp in Spain. The announcement is the first step in Canada Soccer's preparation for a pair of International Friendly matches that are set to take place in the June FIFA international window ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
A native of Markham, Ontario, Rose is one of nine players listed under Canada's "Centre Backs & Fullbacks" designation and one of 27 overall on the roster. Rose, who is the most recent Canadian Youth International Player of the Year, is slated to join a talented group that also features the last two Canadian Players of the Year in Kadeisha Buchanan (2020) and Ashley Lawrence (2019).
Rose and her the rest of her Canadian teammates will soon begin training for their mid-June matches against Czech Republic and Brazil. The Czech Republic clash is scheduled for Friday, June 11, and will be followed by the Brazil get-together on Monday, June 14. Both games will take place at Estadio Cartagonova in Cartagena, Spain.
Earlier this month, Rose was announced as part of the Crimson's nationally ranked six-player Class of 2025. Joining the defender on campus in the fall will be Aslaug Gunnlaugsdottir (M/D), Sydney Farnham (D), Josefine Hasbo (M), Nicola Golen (F/M) and Hildur Hakonardottir (D/M). The group will also be paired with last year's incoming class that was ranked the fifth-best in the country, and best in Ivy League history, by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
