CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Former Harvard men's heavyweight rower Juri-Mikk Udam is set to compete at the 2020 Olympic Games later this month. The 2017 graduate will be a part of the Estonian men's quadruple scull.
A native of Tallinn, Estonia, the former IRA All-Academic Team selection punched his ticket to Tokyo, Japan, when he, Allar Raja, Tonu Endrekson and Kaspar Taimsoo (5:50.94) edged Russia (5:50.99) and Lithuania (5:53.09) at a mid-May qualification event in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Harvard will have an eight-athlete contingent competing at the Olympic Games, including seven former rowers. The lone current student-athlete is rising senior and United States rower
Clark Dean, who is set for the men's four along with Andrew Reed '14.
The other Crimson rowers are Sam Hardy '18 (men's pair) and Josh Hicks '13 (men's pair), representing Australia, and U.S. athletes Liam Corrigan '19 (men's eight), Conor Harrity '18 (men's eight) and Alexander Richards '18 (men's eight)
The Olympics will be held July 23-Aug. 9, with rowing events scheduled to start on the morning of July 23.
