CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Women's Lacrosse Associate Head Coach Becca Block was named Defensive Player of the Year in the inaugural season of the Athletes Unlimited Professional Lacrosse League.

Block recorded 22 ground balls, 19 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers to earn the award and was one of the league's top players.

One of the premier defenders in women's lacrosse, Block is currently a member of the USA World Cup training team. She has played nine years with the U.S. National Team after first making the team in 2012, and was the 2013 IWLCA Defender of the Year and an All-American as a senior at Syracuse.

During her four-year college career, Block helped lead the Orange to the National Title Game in 2012 and a Final Four berth in 2010, while earning Big East All-Academic Honors twice.

Named an Associate Head Coach in July, Block has helped the Crimson improve from allowing 12.06 goals per game in 2019 to 9 goals per game in 2020. Harvard also averaged 9.83 caused turnovers per game in 2020, up from 7.86 caused turnovers per contest in 2019.
