Women’s Soccer Plays at BU, Hosts St. John’s in Second Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Coming off a 1-0 win over Fairfield University in its season opener, Harvard University women's soccer plays at Boston University on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+) and hosts St. John's University on Sunday, Sept. 5 at Jordan Field at 1:00 p.m. (ESPN+) in its second weekend of competition.

What to Know
  • Harvard opened its 2021 season with a 1-0 victory over Fairfield at Ohiri Field on Friday, Aug. 27 in its first game in 657 days.
  • Junior Angela Caloia scored the Crimson's game-winning goal against the Stags, netting her first goal of the season and the seventh of her career.
  • First-year Josefine Hasbo tallied the assist on Caloia's goal, notching her first career point in her collegiate debut.
  • In the net, junior Hannah Gardner and sophomore Anna Karpenko combined for the shutout.
  • Following its victory over Fairfield, the Crimson improved to 14-4-0 at home since 2018.

  • Senior Murphy Agnew has earned a spot on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List as one of 59 student-athletes in the running for the prestigious award presented annually to the nation's NCAA Division I soccer player of the year.
  • In 28 all-time meetings with Boston University, Harvard holds a 14-8-6 lead in the series. The two sides first met on Nov. 7, 1977 – a 4-1 win for the Crimson. Harvard took a 2-0 victory over BU in the last meeting on Oct. 15, 2019.

At the Helm
Chris Hamblin is in his sixth season as The Branca Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Soccer in 2021 after spending five seasons as an assistant coach for the Crimson. The 2016 Ivy League Coach of the Year, he has posted a 38-22-6 overall record and 16-7-5 Ivy League mark during his time at Harvard.

Following the St. John's match, Harvard returns to action with a home game against Boston College on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+) before playing at Monmouth University on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 1:00 p.m.
