No. 10/20 Women’s Soccer Heads to Yale Saturday for First Ivy Road Match

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 10/20 Harvard University women's soccer plays at Yale University on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 4:00 p.m. (ESPN+) at Reese Stadium in its first Ivy League road match of the season as the Crimson enters the contest with an undefeated 7-0-1, 1-0-0 Ivy record on the season and a No. 4 ranking in the NCAA RPI Rankings.

What to Know

  • After entering the Top Drawer Soccer national rankings on Sept. 6 at No. 21, Harvard has made a steady ascent up the poll, moving up to No. 19 on Sept. 13, to No. 15 on Sept. 20, and to No. 10 on Sept. 27. The Crimson stands as the top ranked Ivy League program in the poll.
  • In the NCAA RPI Rankings – through games as of Sept. 26 – Harvard checks in at No. 4 in the nation. The Crimson also appears in the United Soccer Coaches poll at No. 20.
  • At 7-0-1 overall, Harvard has registered its best start since beginning the 1996 season with an 11-0-0 record.
  • In the national NCAA rankings, the Crimson stands third in win percentage (.938), fifth in assists per game (3.38), fifth in corner kicks per game (8.50), seventh in shots on goal per game (10.75), 13th in shots per game (20.50), 17th in points per game (8.62), and 31st in goals per game (2.62). In the individual rankings, first-year Hannah Bebar ranks second in shots on goal per game (3.00) and 13th in shots per game (4.71).
  • As a team in the Ivy League rankings, Harvard ranks first in shots per game (20.50), shots on goal per game (10.75), and corner kicks per game (8.50), while standing second in points per game (8.63), goals per game (2.63), assists per game (3.38), and GAA (0.94)
  • First-year Hannah Bebar earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week (Sept. 27) honors and a spot on Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week (Sept. 28) after scoring a pair of goals in the Crimson's 3-0 win over Penn in its Ivy League opener. Bebar ranks second on the team in points (10) behind three goals and four assists. She leads the conference in shots per game (4.71) and shots on goal per game (3.00).
  • Last week, the Crimson earned a 3-0 win over Penn in its Ivy League opener on Saturday, Sept. 25. First-year Hannah Bebar scored a pair of goals, junior Angela Caloia netted another, and junior goalkeeper Hannah Gardner recorded the shutout.
  • Junior Angela Caloia leads the team and the Ivy League in goals (six), game-winning goals (two), and points (14) on the season. She has tallied points in six of the Crimson's eight games on the year and has 12 career goals.
  • Senior Murphy Agnew has tallied four goals on the year and now has 17 career goals. She ranks sixth in the Ivy League in goals (four) and 10th in points (eight).
  • First-years Hannah Bebar, Ainsley Ahmadian, and Nicola Golen lead the team and sit in a tie for fourth in the Ivy League with four assists apiece. Bebar has posted points in each of her last five outings.
  • Sophomore Taylor Fasnacht and first-year Josefine Hasbo have both tallied six points on the year on two goals and two assists apiece.
  • First-year defender Jade Rose earned a spot on Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week on Sept. 7. She has scored a pair of goals this season.
  • Harvard has scored three or more goals in five games this year and tallied multiple goals in seven of eight contests this season. The Crimson has outscored its opponents 21-8 on the year and outshot its opponents 164-59.
  • At home, the Crimson has registered a 4-0-1 record on the season and a 17-4-1 mark since 2018. Overall, Harvard stands at 19-3-2 since 2019. The Crimson are 3-0-0 on the road in 2021.
  • As a team, Harvard has posted three shutouts on the season and notched a 0.94 GAA. Junior goalkeeper Hannah Gardner has posted a 5-0-0 record on the year with a 0.53 GAA and one shutout.
  • Harvard holds a 33-9-2 all-time record against Yale. The Crimson are 10-1-1 in the last 12 meetings with the Bulldogs.

At the Helm

Chris Hamblin is in his sixth season as The Branca Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Soccer in 2021 after spending five seasons as an assistant coach for the Crimson. The 2016 Ivy League Coach of the Year, he has posted a 44-22-7 overall record and 17-7-5 Ivy League mark during his time at Harvard.
