What to Know
• Harvard women's basketball opened the Carrie Moore era last month with wins over URI, Boston College, Merrimack, UMass Lowell and Colgate. Monday's game against Northeastern will be only the second away contest of the 2022-23 season.
• Moore is in Year 1 after the retirement of Kathy Delaney-Smith, who was at the helm of the Crimson program for 40 years. Moore was named The Kathy Delaney-Smith Head Coach For Harvard Women's Basketball on April 6, 2022, and arrived in Cambridge after spending the 2021-22 season as an assistant coach at Michigan, helping the Wolverines to a 25-7 record and a No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. Moore also had assistant-coaching stints at North Carolina, Princeton and Creighton.
• Harmoni Turner has enjoyed a career season so far this year, scoring a career-high 31 points in the season opener against URI and a career-high 9 assists against Boston College. At the Cancun Challenge Tournament, she scored 56 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists throughout 3 games against Purdue, Oklahoma State and Florida State. These numbers earned her a spot on the Cancun Challenge Tournament All-Tournament team. This is Turner's second honor so far this season, as she was named Ivy-League Co-Player of the Week during the first week of action. She lead the Crimson in scoring during both games this past week, putting up 27 points against UMass Lowell and 22 against Colgate. This makes five games Turner has reported 20+ points.
• Two players reported points in the double digits in Harvard's last game against Colgate. These players were Harmoni Turner (22) and Lola Mullaney (10). McKenzie Forbes, Elena Rodriguez, Gabby Anderson, and Saniyah Glenn-Bello all contributed 6 or more points.
• First-year Glenn-Bello had an all-around day against the Raiders, scoring 8 points, grabbing 7 rounds, assisting on 3 buckets, and racking up 2 steals. This is her first game leading the team in rebounds.
• Harvard has had its best two first quarters in the two most recent games, scoring 24 points against UMass Lowell and 23 against Colgate in the first 10 minutes of play.
• Harvard is meeting Colgate for the 33rd time in series history, after the Crimson won the most recent matchup on Dec. 19, 2021, 75-43. The Crimson are looking to start up another streak of wins with another victory this year as the current streak sits at 1 after the previous matchup. The longest streak of wins the Crimson has held over the Huskies is 5, winning every matchup from 2008-2017.
• Harvard and Northeastern will look to this year's game to break the tie in the series as the teams are tied 16-16 all time.
• Harvard is coming off two home wins against UMass Lowell and Colgate. They are currently 4-1 at home and only have losses to power five opponents at the Cancun Challenge and UMass Lowell at home. With a 5-4 record, Harvard is tied for fourth with Cornell in the Ivy League conference standings.
• Harvard's 2022-23 schedule features 12 non-conference games before Ivy League play begins Dec. 31 against Princeton. The team will hope to advance to the Ivy League tournament for the second consecutive season. The tournament will be held in Princeton, N.J. from March 11-12, 2023.
