No. 1 Women’s Squash Crowned National Champion for Seventh Consecutive Season

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 1 Harvard continues to rewrite the women's squash record books. The Crimson (15-0) defeated sixth-seeded Drexel (16-5) in Sunday afternoon's CSA team championship match to win its seventh-straight national title, a CSA women's record.

Harvard won the day's first seven matches on its way to posting an 8-1 victory over the upstart Dragons in the Howe Cup final. The victory was the 98th consecutive win for the Harvard women's squash program overall.

Senior captain Hana Moataz was the first to finish, defeating Drexel's Karina Tyma, 3-0, to put the Crimson ahead early. The remaining two matches in the first wave were a bit more complex, but in the end both Serena Daniel (No. 5) and Brecon Welch (No. 9) were able to pull out victories in five games. Daniel came from 2-0 down to post the second point for Harvard, while Welch overcame a 2-1 deficit in her win vs. Drexel's Lydia Robinson.

Sophomore Marina Stefanoni made it a 4-0 lead for the hosts with a sweep at No. 2 before junior Evie Coxon sealed the championship, winning 3-2 at No. 6.

With the trophy in hand, the Crimson would round out the day with victories from Charlotte Orcutt (No. 7), Amina Yousry (No. 3) and Habiba Eldafrawy (No. 8).
