AUSTIN, Texas – Harvard forward
Chris Ledlum has been named to the 2021-22 Academic All-America® men's basketball team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). One of 15 student-athletes recognized, the junior was one of five honorees on the third team.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Ledlum was a third-team selection after picking up CoSIDA Academic All-District I Team accolades, along with
Kale Catchings, in mid-February. Ledlum, who was the only player from the Ivy League to land on any of the three Academic All-America teams, was joined on the squad by Josh Bannan (Montana), Justin Bean (Utah State), Rocky Kreuser (North Dakota State) and Luke Smith (Belmont).
In 2021-22, Ledlum played and started 13 games but was sidelined with an injury at the beginning of January. Over the course of the first two-plus months of the '21-22 campaign, Ledlum was one of the top players in the country, averaging 16.7 points and 9.3 rebounds. He scored in double figures 12 times, led the team in rebounding 11 times and was the team leader in scoring on five different occasions. Ledlum also had a team-high six double-doubles to his credit.
The Academic All-America honor is the first for the Harvard men's basketball program, and seventh overall, since 2006-07 when Jim Goffredo was a second-team choice. Ledlum is also the sixth player in program history to earn Academic All-America accolades, following in the footsteps of Joe Carrabino (1980-81, 1984-85), Arne Duncan (1986-87), Tim Hill (1998-99), Matt Stehle (2005-06) and Goffredo.
