ATLANTA, Ga. – No. 19 Harvard University men's swimming and diving tallied two more top-16 finishes, including setting the school record in the 200 free relay, to highlight its second day at the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.
The Crimson won its heat and placed ninth overall with a school record time of 1:15.88 in the 200 free relay while first-year
Adam Wesson placed 16
th in the nation in 1-meter diving in his NCAA debut. Harvard stands in 14
th place in the team rankings through two days.

Umitcan Gures set the record in the 200 free relay, helping the Crimson establish its second program record of the weekend.
Through two days, Harvard has posted four top-16 finishes. On Thursday, the Crimson placed ninth in the 200 medley relay, establishing a school record, and came in 15
th in the 800 free relay.
In the team standings, Harvard sits in a tie for 14
th place with 41 points, ranking as the highest non-Power Five school. Texas leads the team standings with 180 points.
Harvard Highlights
- The quartet of seniors Raphael Marcoux, Dean Farris, and Mahlon Reihman and junior Umitcan Gures set a school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:15.88, winning heat three and placing ninth overall. The group beat the previous school record of 1:16.43 and tallied 18 team points. Harvard topped its previous season best of 1:16.61, eclipsed the NCAA A cut time of 1:17.07, and came within 0.41 seconds of eighth place.
- The 200 free relay earned Second Team All-America with its top-16 finish. Farris and Marcoux gained All-America status in the event for the third time (2018, 2019) while Gures attained All-America in the event for the second time (2018).
- Farris has collected three All-America awards at this year's championships and now has 19 total All-America honors.
- Marcoux, Gures, and Reihman all gained their second All-America accolade at the 2022 championships while increasing their career totals to seven, six and four All-America plaudits respectively.
- First-year Adam Wesson finished 16th in the nation in the 1-meter diving event, earning CSCAA Second Team All-America honors in his NCAA debut in the process.
- Wesson posted a 331.00 in the 1-meter prelims to place 16th and gain a spot in the consolation final. He then scored a 276.35 in the finals, coming in eighth in the consolation final and 16th overall. Wesson added to the team score with his top-16 finish.
- In the prelims of the 50-yard freestyle, junior Umitcan Gures notched a 19.52 – his fastest time of the year, coming in fourth in his heat and 39th overall out of 52 swimmers. He beat his previous season-best time of 19.61.
- In the prelims of the 500-yard freestyle, first-year Shane Washart tallied a time of 4:20.11 – his second-fastest time of the season. He placed fourth in his heat and 41st overall out of 48 competitors.

Competition at the NCAA Championships continues tomorrow – Friday, March 25 – with prelims at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m. The Crimson is set to compete in the 100 fly, 100 back, 3-meter diving, and 400 medley relay on the day.
