Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Behind five goals apiece from
Miles Botkiss and
Austin Madronic, the Harvard men's lacrosse team (2-1) topped Fairfield (2-3), 16-12, on the road today. The Crimson moves to 2-1 on the season with the win, while the Stags fall to 2-3.

Austin Madronic dominated on offense for Harvard, each registering a career-high five goals. Madronic broke his career high in points as well with seven after adding two assists to his tally. First-year
Sam King led the assists column with five.
Steven Cuccurullo claimed the groundball game with six, while the duo of sophomore
Greg Campisi and first-year
Collin Bergstrom notched three caused turnovers each.
The Crimson began the game with strong offensive possessions leading to King's first tally of the game to get Harvard on the board.
Andrew Perry made it a 2-0 game for Harvard on a man-up opportunity, before Fairfield recorded its first goal. Botkiss restored the Crimson's two-goal lead midway through the quarter, until the Stags found some momentum with two quick goals to tie the game at 3-3 to end the frame.
Cuccurullo gave Harvard the lead back with a quick goal off the faceoff to start quarter two. Harvard then capitalized on another man-up opportunity with Botkiss finding the back of the net for his second goal of the day. After the Stags got one back to make it a 5-4 game,
Hayden Cheek and Madronic scored back-to-back goals to give the Crimson a three-goal lead. Fairfield netted its fifth goal of the day, before Harvard went on a 3-0 run with goals from Madronic,
Isaiah Dawson and
Tommy Martinson to close the quarter leading 10-5.
Fairfield opened the third quarter with two consecutive goals to come within three at 10-7. After nearly seven minutes of scoreless action, the Stags continued to climb back to make it a one-goal game after a 4-0 run. Madronic broke the Crimson's scoring drought with his third goal of the day to record his third hat trick this season and bring Harvard into the final frame with an 11-9 lead.
Botkiss came out of the gates in quarter four with three-straight goals, followed by two from Madronic to give Harvard a 16-9 lead as the pair both reached five goals on the day. Not backing down, Fairfield used a 3-0 run to come within four at 16-12.
Kyle Mullin came up with a few key saves to maintain Harvard's lead through the remainder of the quarter as the Crimson clinched a 16-12 win.
