CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After a dominant display in its season opening win over Providence, the No. 12 Harvard men's lacrosse team will begin a challenging week against Colgate on Tuesday evening. The Crimson (1-0, 0-0 Ivy) will host the RV Raiders (1-2, 0-0 Patriot) under the lights at Jordan Field, as first faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM with all the action airing live regionally on NESN. The matchup is the first of two contests for the Crimson this week as the team is set to host No. 1 Syracuse for a highly anticipated rematch this Saturday.

At the Helm
The Frisbie Family Head Coach for Harvard Men's Lacrosse,
Gerry Byrne, enters his seventh season at the helm of the program. The team has experienced success under Coach Byrne, posting a 34-24 record and a 11-13 mark in Ivy League action. Byrne has guided the Crimson to two NCAA Tournaments and last season helped lead the team to a spot in the Ivy League Tournament for the first time since 2016.
Dominant Defensive Display
The Crimson defense was relentless in the season opener against Providence, holding the team to only four goals on the afternoon. The total is tied for the fewest goals in a game since 2009 (two goals allowed vs. Presbyterian). Harvard has allowed four goals in a game six times since the two goal stand 17 years ago.
Harvard also shut out Providence for over 32 minutes of game action from the second quarter until the fourth quarter. The shutout streak was the longest in a game for the Crimson since March 9, 2019, when the team shut out the Friars for over 36 minutes in a 9-8 victory. It was the fourth Harvard has posted a shutout streak of 25 minutes or longer under Byrne.
The team also allowed only one goal in the second half to the Friars, the first time the team has accomplished the feat since a 14-7 win over Dartmouth in 2017. The Crimson held the Friars to a 12.1-percent offensive efficiency rating, the second lowest in a game for Harvard since 2016.

Causing Chaos
On the defensive side of the field, Harvard tortured Providence attackers by causing 12 turnovers and forcing 20 turnovers overall.
Wyatt Wiggins and
Joost de Koning each logged three CTOs while
Quinn Kelly and
Sean Jordan each logged two. Six different player caused a turnover in the contest.
Harvard led the nation in the category a year ago with 11.67 caused turnovers per game.
Ivy League Player of the Week
Senior attack
Teddy Malone earned his third career Ivy League Weekly Honor after being voted at the conference's Player of the Week (Feb. 16). The Haverford School product logged six points on four goals and two assists against the Friars to lead the team in all three categories. A Delaware native, Malone posted two ground balls to contribute defensively.
Malone posted a 60-percent goal contribution clip, factoring in on six of the Crimson's 10 goals in the game. That percentage is the highest in a game for a Harvard player since 2018, when Morgan Cheek '18 notched 13 points on 19 Crimson goals against Boston University.
Tewaaraton Award Watch List
After posting career numbers in 2025,
Logan Ip and
Jack Speidell both landed on the Watch List for the 2026 Tewaaraton Award. The 50-player list which highlights the best players in college lacrosse was announced last Tuesday (Feb. 10).
The St. Anthony's product, Speidell scored 46 goals and fed 13 assists, totaling 59 points during his breakout sophomore season. His 46 goals were the T-8 most in program history and the most ever by a sophomore in the history of HLX. A USA Lacrosse Third Team All-America selection in 2025, Ip started all 15 games in the midfield for the Crimson in 2025 totaling new career highs with 38 points, 23 goals and 15 assists. One of the most accurate shooters in the nation, Ip posted the fifth-best shooting percentage in the NCAA with a 48.9-percent clip.
Both players also earned Preseason Al-America honors by Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine writers.
Stevens Locking Down the Cage
Sophomore goalkeeper,
Graham Stevens, had one of the best games of his young career against Providence last weekend, making eight saves and allowing just four goals. The goals allowed total and his save percentage of .667 were both career bests. Stevens started all 15 games for Harvard a year ago, helping guide the program to 10 wins.
The Captains
A trio of captains will lead Harvard men's lacrosse in 2026.
Logan Ip,
Sean Jordan and
Jack Speidell were named the 161st, 162nd and 163rd captains in program history and will look to help their group make its way back to the Ivy League and NCAA tournaments.
Logan Ip became just the 17th player in program history to be named a multi-year captain of the Crimson in its nearly 150-year history.

Harvard returns a majority of its production from 2025 to the roster in 2026 from all five major statistical categories.

The First Years
A new wave of talented student-athletes has officially arrived in Cambridge for the Harvard men's lacrosse team as the program welcomes in 11 new faces to the program. The highly touted group joins the Harvard College Class of 2029 after seeing success at the high school and club levels. The 15th ranked class in the country according to. Inside Lacrosse, this group hopes to make an immediate impact on the program when it begins the 2026 season.
