Men's Heavyweight Rowing Defeats Northeastern, Completes Perfect Season on the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's heavyweight rowing team wrapped up its Charles River racing season in style on Saturday morning, defeating the Northeastern Huskies for the 23rd consecutive time and reclaiming the Smith Cup with the victory. The Crimson's first varsity crew posted a time of 5:47.6 to power the boat to a perfect 6-0 record in dual races this season.
 
The second, third and fourth varsity crews also claimed victory over Northeastern on the afternoon to give Harvard its third sweep of the season on the water. The third varsity boat completed its perfect season with a win outpacing the Crimson's fourth varsity crew by more than seven seconds and the Northeastern Crew by 14.1 seconds.
 
Harvard has now completed its Charles River racing schedule and will have the next two weeks to train and prepare for the Eastern Sprints Regatta on the water in Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
