CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Golf Coaches Association of America has named Harvard sophomore
Brian Ma as an NCAA Division I PING All-Region honoree for the Northeast, it was announced this week.
Ma is one of 25 honorees for the region and one of three Ivy League selections alongside Columbia's Nathan Han and Princeton's William Huang. He is also the first Harvard All-Region representative since Robert Deng in 2016.
This season, Ma led the Ivy League in scoring average among qualifying individuals with a 71.89 mark (+0.72). He started six tournaments for the Crimson on the year, shooting par or better in 10 of 18 rounds played with six rounds in the 60s. Ma finished inside the top-three individually in all four of Harvard's stroke-play events in the fall and earned his first collegiate win at the Lehigh Invitational (Oct. 22-23), where he shared Medalist Honors after a 36-hole total of 2-under par. The sophomore's 66 in the final round of the Columbia Invite (Oct. 11), marked the lowest score of his career to date.
A native of Milpitas, Calif. concentrating in Economics, Ma was also named Academic All-Ivy for 2021-22.
