EUGENE, Ore. – Harvard track and field begins competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will begin on Wednesday (June 8) and will run through Saturday, June 11 at Hayward Field.
Harvard had a successful spring campaign, seven entries overall with five student-athletes total competing in Oregon, matching the number of student-athletes that the Crimson sent to the NCAA Outdoor meet in 2019, the last time it competed in the outdoor season.
On the men's side, first-year
Daniel Falode (triple jump), sophomore
Acer Iverson (5000m, 10000m), senior
Matthew Pereira (5000m, 10000m), and senior
Sam Welsh (discus throw) will represent Harvard.
Harvard's six male entries are the most the school has had at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships since 1964.
On the women's side, sophomore
Maia Ramsden (1500m) will compete for the Crimson, marking the second consecutive NCAA Outdoor meet (for Harvard) with a 1500m Harvard women's qualifier.
Of all of Harvard's qualifiers, Welsh is the only one who has participated in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships previously, placing sixth in the discus throw in 2019.
This week in Oregon caps off a successful return to outdoor competition for Harvard, as nine school records fell during the year, with 10 individuals winning Ivy Outdoor Heps titles, and 23 earning All-Ivy recognition.
