AUSTIN, Texas – Harvard track and field was back in action in two meets today, continuing its run at the Texas Relays while starting up competition at the Pepsi Florida Relays. The Crimson posted strong results at both meets with Abby Dennis and
Jacklynn Okereke highlighting the effort by writing their names into the record book in the women's 400m hurdles event.
Harvard Highlights
Texas Relays
- The Crimson 4x400m relay team of Harlow Tong, Arpad Kovacs, Hudson Allain and Amari Turner qualified for the finals by clocking a time of 3:08.51. The time was also good for ninth overall in the prelims. The time is now second-best in school history.
- LeRoy Horton, Jonas Clarke, Timi Esan and Amari Turner teamed up in the men's 4x100m event and qualified for the finals with a time of 39.72 seconds. The mark ties the group's previous best set last months at the TSU Relays. It was also the fourth-best time overall in the prelims.
- Timi Esan improved came in just outside the qualification zone in the 100m, clocking a time of 10.15 seconds to finish in ninth place. Jonas Clarke also ran in the event, posting a time of 10.32 seconds.
- Oliver Parker finished seventh in the finals of the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 52.30.
- Milina Wepiwe was the top collegiate athlete in the women's discus throw, finishing second overall in the event. Her longest throw came in at 53.92m (176'11").
- In the men's high jump, Joachim Johnson came in tied for sixth, clearing 2.04m (6'8.25").
Pepsi Florida Relays
- In the women's 4x100m relay, Mfoniso Andrew, Ella Cooper, Mickaila Haisley, Saige Forbes clocked a time of 44.52 seconds to qualify for the finals tomorrow. The time was ninth-best in the prelims overall.
- Marta Amani competed in the women's long jump and logged a top distance of 6.18m (20'3.5") to finish in fifth place.
- Over in the women's 200m, Ella Cooper and Mickaila Haisley came in 18th and 23rd place, respectively. Cooper posted a time of 23.77 seconds and Haisley clocked in at 24.00 seconds.
- There was some shifting of the record book in the 400m hurdles event, as Abby Dennis clocked a time of 1:00.27 to ninth place in program history. Jacklynn Okereke also improved on her best time with Crimson in the event, coming in at 1:00.32 to remain in 10th place all-time at Harvard. The duo came in back-to-back with Dennis taking 27th and Okereke taking 28th place in the event.

Competition at both the Texas Relays and the Florida Relays wraps up tomorrow. Harvard will have several athletes competing in both meets beginning in the morning. Members of the Crimson will also be in action at the UConn Dog Fight invite in Storrs, Conn. tomorrow.
