PRINCETON, N.J. – After a 5-2 Ivy League record and a third-place finish in the conference, the Harvard Women's Soccer team was tabbed to finish second in this year's preseason media poll. The team was slotted in second after collecting 108 total points, just 15 behind the top seeded Brown Bears. The Bears – last season's Ivy League Champions – claimed the No. 1 spot with 123 points followed by Harvard (108), Princeton (104), Columbia (72), Penn (62), Dartmouth (50), Cornell (29) and Yale (29).
The Crimson, led by the Branca Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Soccer,
Chris Hamblin, returns a host of experienced student-athletes including six All-Ivy honorees from a season ago.
The Crimson will also welcome back a talented roster that accounted for 90-percent of its points, 88-percent of its goals and 80-percent of its minutes in 2021. Over the Summer, Hamblin and his staff retooled with five new first-years who will hope to help the program claim its record 14th Ivy-League Championship this season.
Harvard begins it's 2022 campaign this Friday night when it travels to New Britain, Conn. for its season opening game against Central Connecticut State University. The Crimson and the Blue Devils will battle at 7 pm before Harvard returns to Cambridge for its home opener against Northeastern on Monday, August 29.
