FARMINGDALE, N.Y. -- To open their season, Harvard men's golf placed 1st at the Doc Gimmler hosted by St. John's University. Competing in a field of 15 teams, the Crimson recorded rounds of 264-273-270 for a 54-hole total of 33-under-par 807. Their team score was the lowest at the Doc Gimmler by any team since the renaming of the tournament in 2013 by 13 strokes.
Harvard set a new program record for lowest score in a single team round with a score of 264. The previous record was 271 set at Princeton in 2014.
Sophomore, Jeff Fang, ended the weekend tied for fifth in the tournament after finishing nine under par. In his stellar weekend, Fang would record the lowest individual 36-hole score in program history by three strokes.
Junior, Brian Ma, also impressed, finishing in a tie for ninth at 7-under-par. Junior Adam Xiao's and sophomore Diego Saavedra-Davila's 6-under total put them in a tie for 12th. Senior, Brian Isztwan (T27, -1) rounded out the scoring for Harvard.
