PRINCETON, N.J. – Ainsley Ahamdian and
Audrey Francois were named the Ivy League's Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, after helping the team win all three of its games this past week. Ahamdian scored four times over the stretch, including twice in the upset over #17 NC State (Sep. 4) while Francois chipped in with a goal and an assist in the contest against UNC-Greensboro (Sep. 2). These were both student-athlete's first career weekly awards.
The Chicago, Ill. Native, Ahmadian, has been an offensive force since stepping onto the pitch in 2022. After sitting out the first match of the season due to injury the sophomore has scored in three straight matches, also netting the game-winning goal in all three. Her goals per game total of 1.33 is currently second best in the nation and her 2.67 points per game in third best in the nation.
Ahmadian's three straight game-winners is the first time a women's soccer student-athlete has accomplished the feat in recorded history (since at least 2009). The sophomore's efforts also landed her on the Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News Team's of the Week.
Francois has been a huge contributor in the offensive third this season for the Crimson. The firs-year recorded an assist in the season opener at CCSU and this week scored a goal and dished an assist against UNC-Greensboro. The offensive effort netted her the Rookie of the Week award for the first time in her young career.
Both these athletes helped contribute to the team's 4-0-0 start, which is the first time the program has reached that total since 1996.
