CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's soccer (4-0-0, 0-0 Ivy) is officially ranked on the Untied Soccer Coaches National Poll at No. 20. The Crimson land on the list in week four after last receiving votes in the first preseason poll, coming in at No. 32 in the extended rankings. After a 4-0-0 start, the Crimson finally earned enough points to rank among the nation's best. Harvard is also now officially ranked No. 2 in the Northeast Region behind No. 6 Rutgers.
The Crimson also earned a spot on the Top Drawer Soccer National Rankings, coming in at No. 22 in the poll. The program will look to continue to climb in the poll and outperform the 2021-22 Crimson, who made it all the way to No. 8 in the rankings last season.
Harvard's four-game win streak to open the season was sparked by an all-around team effort in the wins over CCSU, Northeastern, UNC-Greensboro and No. 17 NC State.
Ainsley Ahmadian led the way offensively, scoring four goals in three games last week including two against the No. 17 Wolfpack. Ahmadian found herself on the Top Drawer Soccer, College Soccer News and Soccer America National teams of the week for her efforts and was also awarded the Ivy League's Player of the Week.
Hannah Bebar (1G, 4A) and
Angela Caloia (1G, 2A) have also aided the attack in the offensive third.
Defensively, the Harvard backline has been getting large contributions from first-year
Smith Hunter,
Lara Schenk and
Jordan Di Verniero who have helped the Crimson hold opponents to just two goals in four games. Goalkeepers
Hannah Gardner and
Anna Karpenko have also started off strong, posting a 0.50 GAA and a save percentage of .833 so far in 2022.
