Women's Basketball Travels to Dartmouth on Monday

Cambridge, Mass. - The Harvard Women's Basketball team will travel to Hanover, N.H. on Monday, Jan. 16 to compete against the Big Green of Dartmouth. The game will start at 5:00 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN+. 

What to Know

• Harvard opened the Carrie Moore era this season with 7 nonconference wins and wins over Princeton and Brown to start the Ivy League campaign. Monday will present the next Ivy opponent for the Crimson at Dartmouth.

• Moore is in Year 1 after the retirement of Kathy Delaney-Smith, who was at the helm of the Crimson program for 40 years. Moore was named The Kathy Delaney-Smith Head Coach For Harvard Women's Basketball on April 6, 2022, and arrived in Cambridge after spending the 2021-22 season as an assistant coach at Michigan, helping the Wolverines to a 25-7 record and a No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. Moore also had assistant-coaching stints at North Carolina, Princeton and Creighton. 

 • Harmoni Turner has enjoyed a career season so far this year, scoring a career-high 31 points in the season opener against URI, a career-high 9 assists against Boston College and a career high 7 steals against Maine. She has reported 20+ points in six games so far this season. Turner has garnered Ivy League Co-Player of the Week Honors twice, Ivy League Player of the Week once and was named to the Cancun Challenge All-Tournament team. 

• With conference weekend's opening victory over Princeton, Harvard snapped the reigning Ivy League champions' 42-game Ivy League win streak and their seven-game win streak over the Crimson. 

• The Crimson went into overtime for the first time this season against Yale, when Harmoni Turner put up 26 points for the Crimson. She finished the game shooting 10-of-24 from the floor and 2-of-3 from three. This was her seventh game of the season scoring 20+ points.

• Harvard last played at Columbia, where Lola Mullaney scored 25 points to lead the Crimson. 15 of these points came from beyond the arc as she shot 5-of-11 from three. This is the second game this season she has led the team in scoring after putting up 30 points against Brown last weekend. 

• Harvard has been strong in steals all season, beating their opponent in almost every game. Against Columbia, Harvard finished the game with five steals over Columbia's two and three blocks over Columbia's two.

Harmoni Turner leads the Ivy League in points per game with 18.1. Elena Rodriguez is second in the the Ivy League in field goal percentage with .642. Lola Mullaney is second in three-point percentage with 42 3FG made at 35.3 percent. 

• Harvard is meeting Ivy League competitor Dartmouth for the 90th time in series history, one in which Harvard leads 53-36. The Crimson currently holds a 3-game win streak over the Big Green, winning both matchups in the 2022 season, most recently on March 4, 2022 with a score of 85-52. 

• With a win over Brown on Friday, Harvard will be starting Ivy League play 2-0 for the first time since the 2018-2019 season. With a third win over Yale on Saturday, Harvard would be starting Ivy League play 3-0 for the first time since the 2016-2017 season.

• Harvard's 2022-23 schedule featured 12 non-conference games before Ivy League play began on Dec. 31 against Princeton. With a 2-2 Ivy record and a 9-7 record overall, Harvard currently sits tied for fourth with Princeton in the Ivy League standings.

Harvard will head to Ithaca, N.Y. next weekend to play Cornell for the first time this season on Saturday, Jan. 21. The game will air on ESPN+.
