PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Harvard men's swimming and diving team returned to the pool for the first time in 2023 on Friday and defeated Brown on the road, 168-130. The victory pushed the Crimson's record to 4-0 (4-0 Ivy League), while the Bears dropped to 1-5 (1-5 Ivy).
The Crimson won 10 events on the day, including the first five on the docket. Among the 10 winners was
Adam Wesson, who posted a 3-meter diving score of 367.35. He was also the runner-up on the 1-meter springboard after accumulating 306.38 points. Fellow diver,
Nick Nocita, meanwhile, qualified for NCAA Zones on the 3-meter board with a score of 327.38, giving Harvard five zone qualifiers this season.
Harvard Highlights
- The Crimson 200 medley relay team of Anthony Rincon, Will Grant, Umitcan Gures and Marcus Holmquist opened the afternoon by winning the event in 1:29.04.
- Simon Lamar posted a season-best effort in the 1,000 free, clocking in with a winning time of 9:18.50. His previous best of 9:27.87 was accomplished vs. Columbia.
- Then in succession, Cole Kuster (1:40.10), Rincon (49.10) and Saavan Shah (56.09) earned first-place finishes in the 200 free, 100 back and 100 breast, respectively.
- David Greely won the 50 free in 20.71, edging out teammate Gures by 0.02 seconds. Gures completed the race in 20.73.
- Rincon concluded his afternoon by taking the 200 back in 1:49.79, only to have Gures (100 fly – 48.73) and Grant (200 IM – 1:49.78) follow suit and finish out the individual events with victories.
