PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Harvard men's swimming and diving continued its unbeaten run in dual Ivy meets, defeating Penn on the road, 193-106. With the meet win, Harvard improved to 5-0 (5-0 Ivy) on the year, while the Quakers fell to 4-4-1 (2-4-1 Ivy).
The Crimson won 12 of 16 events on the day, with
Adam Wesson sweeping the diving events, and Gunner Grant (100 and 200 back) picking up two victories on the day. Wesson recoded his best 1-meter diving score of the season (356.78).
Harvard Highlights
- The Crimson 200 medley relay team of Anthony Rincon, Jared Simpson, Umitcan Gures and Ryan Linnihan earned Harvard's first win of the day with a time of 1:28.67.
- Simon Lamar earned his second win of the week in the 1000 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 9:19.14.
- Harris Durham continued a run of Crimson wins to start the meet, narrowly edging teammate Marcus Holmquist (1:40.79) for the win in the 200 free (1:40.75).
- Gunner Grant earned the first of his two backstroke wins in the 100 (48.13). He later took the 200 back in 1:48.42.
- Ryan Linnihan won the 50 free in 20.69 with Umit Gures placing second in 20.84.
- Harvard finished 1-2-3 in the 100 free, with Marcus Holmquist winning the event in 45.95, and teammates Ben Littlejohn (46.49) and Ryan Linnihan (46.51) close behind.
- Cole Kuster won the 500 free in 4:33.18, which was followed by Umit Gures' win in the 100 fly (48.36).
- Harvard concluded the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 400 free relay, as Harvard's Ryan Linnihan, Ben Littlejohn, Anthony Rincon and Jared Simpson (3:03.80) narrowly edged Marcus Holmquist, Aayush Deshpande, David Greeley, and Cole Custer (3:03.81).
