CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Crimson sailing team continued to prove dominant on the waters in four regattas to close out September and open racing in October. Harvard finished first at the Danmark Trophy, fifth at the Smith Trophy and sixth at the first round of the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship. This finish will allow the Crimson to advance to the final round of the championship from Oct. 14-15.
Danmark Trophy
The Harvard team finished first of 20 teams in the two-day regatta at Coast Guard, scoring 163 points. The Crimson boats won both divisions, as
Lachlain McGranahan and
Marbella Marlo took first in division A with 71 points, battling the Dartmouth boat throughout 14 races to finish on top by two points. In Division B,
Justin Callahan and
Kennedy Leehealey won the division with 92 points. They had an excellent comeback through the second half of the races, making up ground from their sixth-place position at one point to win the division.
Women's Atlantic Coast Championships Round 1
The Harvard women's team finished sixth of 17 competitiors in the first round of the ACC with 203 points from racing in two divisions. This place secured their spot in the ACC Final, as the top nine teams will advance to the Championship regatta on Oct. 14 to 15.
Smith Trophy
On familiar waters on the Charles River, the Crimson team took fifth place of 17 teams at the Smith Trophy, hosted by MIT. Harvard scored 135 points from two divisions to secure their spot.
Up Next
Harvard will race in three more regattas, one of them on home waters from Oct. 7-8. The Crimson will host the first round of the Open Atlantic Coast Championship and head to the Stu Nelson Trophy (women's team) and Hewitt Trophy.
