Field Hockey Clinches Spot in Ivy Tournament Before Big Matchup with Princeton

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 11 Harvard Field hockey heads to Princeton tomorrow with a highly anticipated matchup with the Tigers. Undefeated in Ivy play, Harvard aims to improve to 10-3 and 5-0 in conference play.  The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
Harvard officially clinched a spot in the Ivy Field Hockey Tournament, the Ivy League announced today. Harvard is currently tied for first with Cornell in the Ivy League standings as both teams are undefeated at this moment. The Crimson will play the Big Red in the last week of the season. 
 
WHAT TO KNOW
  • Last weekend the Crimson defeated No.14 Saint Joseph's thanks in part to big performances from Emily Guckian and Tessa Shahbo.
  • The Crimson moved up three spots after the win to No.11
  • Harvard was able to overcome a penalty and the extra attacker late in the fourth quarter to hang on and defeat the Hawks. 
  • The win over No.14 Saint Joseph's was the third-ranked win of the season for the Crimson. 
  • Emily Guckian who has been on a tear in recent weeks – extended her point streak to eight games after scoring the lone goal for the Crimson on Sunday. Guckian leads the team in goals and points.
  • Harvard fell to the Tigers last year on the road via a score of 4-2. 
 
NEXT UP 
The Crimson will face-off against crosstown rival Boston University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
